The project titled "Two People, One Career: Ottoman/Turkish Diplomat Wives (1851-1938)," prepared under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Evren Küçük, a faculty member in the International Relations Department of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Kastamonu University, has been deemed eligible for support under TÜBİTAK's 3005 - Innovative Solutions in Social and Human Sciences Research Projects Support Program.
In the project led by Prof. Dr. Evren Küçük, researchers include Prof. Dr. Musa Kılıç from Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rahime Süleymanoğlu-Kürüm from Bahçeşehir University, Dr. Faculty Member Kadriye Topal Doğan from Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, and Dr. Faculty Member Murat Yılmaz from our University. Additionally, it is planned that a postdoctoral researcher and two master's degree scholarship holders will also be involved in the project.
The project aims to highlight the roles of diplomat wives in the history of diplomacy by considering them as the primary subject and unit of analysis during the Ottoman period. In this context, the aim is to contribute to a more balanced and equitable knowledge production. In the study, the questions "What is the importance of diplomats' spouses in Ottoman/Turkish diplomacy?" and "How did the role and visibility of these spouses transform during the transition from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic?" will be addressed.
