Aiming to establish a distinguished position among universities in Turkey and worldwide, Kastamonu University was founded under Law No. 5467, as published in the Official Gazette on March 17, 2006.
Despite being a recently founded university, Kastamonu University has established itself as a “Developing Young University” with its innovations in social, cultural, and sports areas, as well as its physical developments.
Our university consists of three campuses: the main campus, the "Kuzeykent Campus", located on an area of 237 hectares at Daday Road (3 km), and the "Faculty of Medicine Campus."
With 15 faculties, 3 institutes, 2 colleges, 13 vocational schools, 24 research and application centers, 17 coordinatorships, MERLAB (Central Research Laboratory) accredited by TÜRKAK, and a Technology Transfer Office, our university boasts an increasing number of distinguished academic and administrative staff members. In addition, there are 8 conference halls, 5 indoor sports halls, a multi-purpose sports complex, 4 fitness centres, 1 football ground in accordance with UEFA criteria, an athletic track, outdoor sports fields, central and student laboratories, 3 social facilities, Yücebıyıklar Mansion, and Cide Guest House.
Near the Kuzeykent Campus of our university, there are dormitories with a capacity of 2928 male and 4462 female students, 6 in the centre and 1 in Abana, affiliated to the Credit and Dormitories Institution, which meet the accommodation needs of our students. Apart from these dormitories affiliated with the Credit and Dormitories Institution, many private dormitories have varying equipment, especially in the city centre and near the Kuzeykent Campus.
English preparatory education is provided at our university, and compulsory Arabic preparatory education is provided at the Faculty of Theology. English preparatory education given by the School of Foreign Languages is optional.In addition, Turkish language education is provided at the Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center (TÖMER) for trainees from abroad.
In our university, there are 82 student societies that actively operate in different fields such as theater, history, music, photography, and the environment. The number and activities of these societies continue to increase day by day.
Our university has 120 bilateral protocol agreements with universities in different parts of the world. Within the framework of these protocols, students graduating from our vocational schools have the opportunity to complete their bachelor's degree at universities all over the world, with which we have bilateral protocols, and our undergraduate students have the opportunity to receive graduate education. The agreements include joint research, joint projects, and the exchange of faculty members and students.
In addition, our university has protocol agreements with 93 universities in our country within the framework of the Farabi exchange program, and we have agreements with 92 European universities within the scope of study, internships, and faculty mobility within the framework of the Erasmus program. Our university, which is rapidly adding new universities to the list of universities with which we have concluded a cooperation protocol and universities with which we have Erasmus and Farabi agreements, is taking a firm step towards becoming a "world university.".
