The AVI-X conference on "Applications of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles" was organized by the Kastamonu University School of Civil Aviation and the Aviation Club on April 17, 2025.

The conference, held in the Cemil Meriç Hall of the Central Library, was attended by Skyview's education coordinator, Emre Salı and his team. The conference began with the opening speech of the Director of the School of Civil Aviation, Prof. Dr. Engin Kanbur. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Kanbur emphasized that they are in first place in Turkey for the number of university student research projects accepted by TÜBİTAK under the 2209 program. Congratulating the students and advisor professors who contributed to this success, Prof. Dr. Kanbur concluded his speech as follows: "In this context, I congratulate our students and our project advisor professors." One of our main goals is to ensure that this success continues to grow. On the other hand, the subject of our organized conference, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), is rapidly developing in the world and in our country, and their areas of use are increasing. From defense to security, from agricultural use to logistics, from mapping to search and rescue operations, from traffic monitoring to firefighting and photography, UAVs are used in many fields. Especially in the field of defense, our country has reached a position where it produces and sells its own UAVs. This situation is an example of how critical our local and national stance is and how it reduces our country's dependence on foreign entities." We are also happy and proud to be training our students in this field and contributing to the development of Turkish aviation with the projects they produce."

Following the opening speech, success certificates were presented to 38 students who participated in 15 projects accepted under the 2024/1 TÜBİTAK 2209-A/B university students' research project support program by their project advisors.

After the award ceremony, Emre Salı took the podium and provided detailed information about unmanned aerial vehicles to the students. Salı  explained how UAVs are used in the spraying, seeding, and fertilization processes, especially in the agricultural sector.

The conference concluded with the presentation of a gift to Emre Salı by Prof. Dr. Engin Kanbur and a photo session.
