Tourism Week events, celebrated every year between April 15 and 22, are being organized for the 49th time this year. The events organized to raise awareness of tourism in society, revitalize domestic tourism, increase public participation in tourism activities, and promote cultural values began with a wreath-laying ceremony held by the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism in Cumhuriyet Square on April 15, 2025.
The events organized by Kastamonu University and the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, which will last for a week, continued with a parade starting from Cevizli Park and ending at Cumhuriyet Square. The procession was attended by Deputy Governor Aydın Ergün, Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Mehmet Kerem Seven, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Prof. Dr. Burhan Sevim, and many public institutions, non-governmental organizations, and citizens.

The program held at Cumhuriyet Square continued with the participation of the provincial protocol. In the events, the folk dance performance staged by the Kastamonu Atabey Gazi Association Sepetçioğlu Regional Dance Team received significant interest from the audience. After the show, a photography exhibition prepared by the Kastamonu Photography Art Association met with art lovers.
On the same day, regional products unique to Kastamonu were exhibited and offered for sale at the stands opened by the Olgunlaşma Institute and Sarıkonak Women’s Cooperatives. Citizens showed great interest in the stands.
The opening ceremony held at the Kastamonu Public Education Center began with a moment of silence and the reading of the national anthem. Speaking at the ceremony, Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Mehmet Kerem Seven stated that Kastamonu, a city rich in culture and tourism, will reach the place it deserves in tourism in the future with its values.
Then, the Deputy Dean of our University's Faculty of Tourism, Prof. Dr. Burhan Sevim, stated that the university has taken on an important responsibility for the development of Kastamonu in the fields of culture and tourism. Reminding that they are a specialized university in the field of Forestry and Nature Tourism, Sevim said that they continue their academic and practical studies without slowing down in this direction.
After the opening speeches, a "Street Interviews" screening was held. The first day's events concluded with a concert by artists from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
