Kastamonu University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design faculty member Assist. Prof. Dr. Sofya Cihan Canbolat and her students registered and protected seven new designs by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TURKPATENT). Thus, 11 out of a total of 15 design applications made under the rightful ownership of our University in 2024 were registered as of 2025. The evaluation process of the remaining four applications continues.
This success, which once again demonstrates the capacity of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design to produce original designs and the qualified projects carried out with students, is considered a concrete indicator of the scientific and artistic production power of our University.
Commenting on the subject, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal stated that the registered designs reflect both academic success and innovative perspective and said the following:
“These works, which were developed within our Faculty of Fine Arts and Design and whose registration process was successfully finalized, are the result of our University's productive academic environment and student-faculty collaboration. We attach great importance to the protection of intellectual property rights. Design registration is an important step in transforming academic knowledge into social contribution. I sincerely congratulate all our academicians and students who contributed to this success and wish them continued success.”
