Kastamonu University, which has specialized in Forestry and Nature Tourism, has added a new project to its growing portfolio. Within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 4004 – Nature Education and Science Schools Support Program, the project titled “The Future of Climate: Climate of the Future 3”, coordinated by our faculty member Lecturer Berkan Güngör, has once again been granted support.
The project, approved for funding by TÜBİTAK, aims to enhance the knowledge of undergraduate and graduate students—currently enrolled in formal education programs—on climate change through interactive activities that explore the issue from multiple perspectives. The project also seeks to raise participants’ awareness of nature conservation and sustainable living, encourage them to develop public policies alongside expert educators, and actively involve them in local, national, and international environmental initiatives.
The project will be Scheduled between September 1–6, 2025, and will include four workshops, a 40-hour educational program, and two scientific excursions. After the project, a workshop will be organized, and a policy document will be produced.
Supporting stakeholders in the “The Future of Climate: Climate of the Future 3” project include the General Directorate of Combating Desertification and Erosion, Daday Municipality, Kastamonu Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate, Kastamonu Technopark Inc., S.S. Kastamonu Sarı Konak Women’s Initiative Production and Business Cooperative, and Daday Iksir Resort Town.
Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal emphasized the University’s commitment to combating climate change and promoting sustainability, noting that the project reflects these efforts.
He congratulated those who contributed to the project and thanked the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) President, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and YÖK members for their encouragement. He also thanked TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Orhan Aydın for the support provided to the institution during the project’s development.
