Kastamonu University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Clinical Sciences, Department of Internal Diseases lecturer Assist. Assist. Serkan Bozacı's doctoral thesis research project was entitled to be supported within the TÜBİTAK 1002 Rapid Support Program scope.
This research, titled “In Vitro Investigation of Immunomodulatory Effects of 1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 on Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells Isolated from Neonatal Foals”, aims to provide scientific data to strengthen the immune system of newborn foals. The project examines the immunomodulatory effects of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3, the active vitamin D, on peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) isolated from neonatal foals in a laboratory setting.
In the project, Dr. Assist. Prof. Dr. Ömer Deniz and Prof. Dr. Özgür Kaynar are involved as researchers, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kenan Çağrı Tümür and Prof. Dr. Abuzer Acar contribute as consultants. This research, which aims to understand the modulation mechanisms of vitamin D on the immune system and to reveal the potential effects of these mechanisms on animal health in the neonatal period, is expected to make significant contributions to horse breeding and animal health.
