The project titled “Investigation of the Prognostic Significance of Serum cTnI and Plasma L-Lactate Concentrations in Cattle with Tropical Theileriosis,” led by Kastamonu University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Clinical Sciences faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kenan Çağrı Tümer was entitled to receive support within the scope of the TUBITAK 1002 - Rapid Support Program. Dr. Murat Uztimur from Bingöl University and Dr. Mehmet Can Uluçeşme from Fırat University are involved in the project as researchers.
The project aims to predict the progression of the parasite-borne disease called “tropical theileriosis,” which is transmitted by ticks in cattle. Within the scope of the study, some blood values of animals infected with the disease will be analyzed to determine how severe the disease will be. The disease will be controlled, and animal losses will be prevented by early diagnosis and intervention. Early intervention is vital in the fight against this disease, which can be fatal if left untreated.
The project aims to help farmers reduce animal losses and contribute to healthier meat and milk production by preventing unnecessary use of medicines in treatment. It also plans to make significant contributions to the livestock sector by creating a new road map in the fight against this disease, which is frequently seen in cattle.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, congratulated the team, especially the project coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kenan Çağrı Tümer. Our Rector thanked the President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and the members of the Council of Higher Education for the support provided to scientific studies and expressed his gratitude to TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Orhan Aydın for his encouraging approach to the institutions in project studies.
