Kastamonu University Faculty of Education celebrated 24 November Teachers' Day with a meaningful event. On 25 November 2024, our academicians and students showed great interest in the program held at Hoca Ahmet Yesevi Cultural Center.
Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kaçar, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Abdulkadir Tuna, Taşköprü Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Abdullah Çağrı Biber, academicians, and students attended the program. The event started with the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kaçar, Dean of the Faculty of Education, after the silence of respect and the reading of the National Anthem.
Prof. Dr. Kaçar drew attention to the role of teachers in society and emphasized that teachers are the cornerstones of education. He also explained the meaning of 24 November, the importance of teacher training in national development, and the success of our university in training qualified educators.
During the event, the Polyphonic Choir, under the direction of Prof. Dr. İlhan Özgül, Lecturer at the Department of Fine Arts Education, Department of Music Education, presented a music concert. After the performance, which the participants appreciated, Dr. Lecturer İsmail Yıldız gave a short performance. Prof. Dr. İsmail Yıldız prepared a short cinema screening.
A panel discussion was organized. Following the screening, titled ‘Teaching: Yesterday, Today and Future,’ the panel was moderated by Prof. Dr. A. Çağrı Biber, Faculty of Education Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erol Çiğdem, Göl Anatolian High School Principal Abdullah Yağız, and our student Hazal Yıldız shared their experiences about the historical development, current situation, and future role of the teaching profession. In the panel, presentations were made about the critical role of teachers in the education system, the values they add to students, and the future orientation of the teaching profession with innovations in education. In the afternoon session, a panel titled ‘Sharing Teaching Experience’ was held under the moderation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hafife Bozdemir Yüzbaşıoğlu. In the panel, teachers Tuğba Harmankaya and Hazal Ateş shared their experiences with the teaching profession with the participants. The first day of the event ended with the presentation of certificates of appreciation.
The event will continue with various activities on Wednesday, 27 November, and Thursday, 28 November.
