A 63-Year Journey on the Path of Science and Art: Nail Tan Symposium was held In cooperation with the Governorship of Kastamonu and the Rectorate of Kastamonu University, our Faculty of Education organized. The symposium started with the life of Nail Tan, who made significant contributions to Turkish culture, language, and folklore.
In the symposium, the services and projects of Nail Tan, known for his contributions to Turkish culture and language, who started his career as a writer with poetry and worked in various positions in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, were discussed extensively. Tan, who retired in 1998, was honored by the Turkish Language Association with the Turkish Language Service Award in 2023 for his contributions to the Turkish language.
The opening speech of the symposium was made by Prof. Dr. Eyüp Akman, Head of the Department of Basic Education at the Faculty of Education of our University, who is the Chairman of the Organising Committee.
Prof. Dr. Akman stated that the documentary about Nail Tan was broadcast for the first time at their university on 18 December 2023 and drew attention to the importance of this symposium. Akman said, 'We are fortunate in this regard. We are realising a first. Organizing this event during Nail Tan's lifetime is a big step towards protecting his valuable legacy.'
Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kaçar, also took the floor at the symposium and gave comprehensive information about Nail Tan's life. Kaçar especially emphasized the importance of Kastamonu in the Turkish world.

Taking the floor on behalf of the Governorship of Kastamonu, Deputy Governor Aydın Ergün stated that the Nail Tan Symposium is an event befitting Kastamonu and that it is of great significance both to protect cultural heritage and to organize such an event about Nail Tan, who made significant contributions to Turkish culture, language, and folklore.
Later in the symposium, scholars from different parts of Turkey presented their papers on Nail Tan's academic and cultural legacy.
