Kastamonu University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of History organized a 'Panel Commemorating Atatürk on the 86th Anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's 86th death anniversary'. Prof. Dr. Şeref Demir, Head of the Department of History, made the opening speech of the panel. Demir reminded the fundamental values of the Republic founded by Atatürk by leading the Turkish nation's struggle for independence and emphasized the importance of these events organized in his memory in conveying Atatürk's ideals and the achievements of the Republic to young generations.
Prof. Dr. Cevdet Yakupoğlu moderated the panel, and four expert speakers presented on different aspects of Atatürk.
Prof. Dr. Ercan Çelebi, in his speech titled 'Atatürk's Last Journey from Dolmabahçe to Ankara,’' explained Atatürk's last journey after his death and what happened in this process. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onur Hasdedeoğlu, in his presentation titled 'Reflections of 10 November in Turkish Literature', evaluated how the works on the theme of 10 November in Turkish literature reflect the impact of Atatürk on society.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Ateş discussed Atatürk's interest in the Turkish world and his contributions to the modernization of the Turkish world under the title 'Atatürk and the Turkish World.’' Finally, Research Assist. Assist. İlker Çakmakkaya drew attention to the innovations in the field of librarianship and the progress made in this field during the Atatürk period with his presentation titled 'Developments in Turkish Librarianship during the Atatürk Period.’'
Addressing the audience at the end of the event, Prof. Dr. Cevdet Yakupoğlu emphasized the importance of such commemorative events to keep Atatürk's ideas and ideals alive.
The program ended with the presentation of certificates to the participant speakers.
