he cup and medal ceremony of the '100th Year Republic Sports Games' and '29 October Republic Day Sports Games, which were specially organized for the 100th anniversary of our Republic, was held with enthusiasm on 30 October 2024 at the Ay Yıldız Sports and Life Centre. Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Atalan and Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük, as well as academic and administrative staff and students, attended the ceremony.
In the Staff Tournament football final held before the ceremony, the Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs became the tournament champion by gaining superiority over the Faculty of Sports Sciences. In the third-place match, the Faculty of Tourism faced Küre Vocational School, which won the game and ranked third.
In the 100th Anniversary Republic Sports Games Staff Tournament held in May and June, 98 matches were played in football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, bowling, and darts branches. In the tournament, 415 academic and administrative staff from 70 teams competed.
The ranking teams in other branches of the tournament were as follows: In men's volleyball, the Department of Construction Affairs ranked. First, the Faculty of Sports Sciences ranked second, the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture ranked third; in women's volleyball, the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture ranked first, and the Faculty of Health Sciences ranked second. In men's basketball, the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture was the champion, while the Department of Health, Culture and Sports ranked second and the Faculty of Sports Sciences ranked third. The winning bowling, table tennis, and darts teams were also awarded.
In the ceremony, medals and trophies were also presented to the students who ranked in the foot tennis, badminton, 3x3 basketball, darts, table tennis, and 1923-meter cross-country branches in which 250 students participated in the '29 October Republic Day Sports Games' held on 21-23 October 2024.
The athletes received their awards from Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Atalan and Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük, Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Architecture Prof. Dr. İzzet Şener, Dean of Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Talip Çeter, Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Abdulkadir Tuna, Dean of Faculty of Sports Sciences Prof. Dr. Bilgehan Baydil and Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Demirbaş.
