The program, which aims to ensure that new students who prefer Kastamonu University in the 2024-2025 Academic Year adapt to university life and gain information about academic processes, will continue with sessions to be held on 25 September.
Opening Speeches on Career Planning and Academic Opportunities were held.
The opening speech of the orientation program was made by Prof. Dr. Şerif Demir, Director of Career Development Application and Research Centre.
Prof. Dr. Demir emphasized that university life is not only about lectures but also about career planning. Prof. Dr. Şerif Demir gave detailed information about the counseling services and internship opportunities offered by the Career Centre and motivated the students to make the best use of these opportunities.
Then Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Atalan took the floor and stated that Kastamonu University is among the distinguished higher education institutions in Turkey.
Prof. Dr. Atalan drew attention to their expertise in the fields of Forestry and Nature Tourism and emphasized the importance of students making the most of the academic opportunities in these fields. He stated that the educational opportunities offered by the university will make great contributions to the personal and professional development of the students.
Guidance from the Career Centre: Guiding the Future
In the second part of the orientation program, Lect. Lecturer. Feyza Kılınç Tayfun gave an informative presentation.
Kılınç Tayfun gave valuable information to the students about the paths they should follow to achieve their career goals. In addition to the job application, internship opportunities, and CV preparation services offered by the Career Centre, the points to be considered in the process of preparing for the business world were detailed.
Training on Combating Addiction
Another session of the orientation program was held by Lect. Lecturer. Mücahit Muslu gave a presentation on Combating Addiction.
In the presentation, information about the risks that students may encounter in university life was given and methods of coping with these risks were emphasised. In particular, the role of preventive measures and social support mechanisms in the fight against addiction was emphasized. Muslu shared important information to raise awareness about the prevention of addiction and to encourage students to adopt healthy lifestyles.
Information on Quality and Accreditation Processes
The first day of the orientation ended with a presentation on Quality and Accreditation Processes by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nesrin İçli.
In the presentation, the importance of quality assurance systems implemented by Kastamonu University in academic and administrative processes was discussed in detail. Assoc. Prof. Dr. İçli emphasized that quality management and accreditation processes contribute to the national and international prestige of the university. In addition, the advantages of quality standards for students in terms of education quality and career opportunities after graduation were emphasized.
Sessions will continue on 25 September.
The second day of the orientation program will continue with sessions to be held on 25 September. In these sessions, students will be informed about academic processes and campus life to better adapt to the university.
