The opening lecture of the project, which was conducted by Berkan Güngör, one of the academicians of our University, started with the presentation titled “Climate Change, Nature and Turkey” by Prof. Dr. Kasım Yenigün, General Director of the General Directorate for Combating Desertification and Erosion.

Prof. Dr. Yenigün discussed the global and local impacts of climate change in a comprehensive manner. Providing detailed information about Turkey's strategies and measures, Prof. Yenigün gave essential messages to the participants about the individual and social measures that can be taken against climate change. The presentation was followed with great interest by the participants.

During the 10-day project, participants will receive in-depth information on climate change, environmental awareness and nature education. In this context, 12 workshops will be organized, and a 40-hour training program will be implemented. The workshops will cover the scientific basis of climate change, environmental impacts and sustainability. In addition, thanks to the scientific excursions, one of the most critical components of the project, the participants will participate in 3 different field trips to gain experience directly in touch with nature.

The project is also supported by three universities, four public institutions and one private organization. The team includes four experts, 14 trainers, seven mentors and one health personnel. The team members aim to ensure that the participants gain the best academic and practical knowledge during training.

The project will also publish an edited book and organize an exhibition. Two workshops and two panels will be organized to increase the scientific impact of the project. In addition, a symposium and a sapling planting event will be organized to raise environmental awareness.

At the end of the project, it is aimed that the knowledge and experiences of the participants will contribute to raising environmental awareness in society and taking more decisive steps to combat climate change.
