Kastamonu University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Preclinical Sciences, Department of Veterinary Pathology faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Funda Terzi's project titled "Investigation of the Ferroptosis Inhibiting Effect of Silymarin in the Pathogenesis of Diabetes and Sorafenib-Induced Liver and Kidney Damage" was entitled to be supported within the scope of TÜBİTAK 3501 - Career Development Program.
During the project, Prof. Dr. Özgür Kaynar, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, served as the project advisor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Serkan Erol, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Biochemistry, Assoc. Prof. Dr Beste Demirci, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine; Assoc. Prof. Dr Celal Demir, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, and Res. Assist. İlayda Yıldırım, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Pathology, will also support as a researcher.
The project, which was decided to be supported by TÜBİTAK, aims to investigate the effect of silymarin in reducing and preventing the toxic side effects of sorafenib, which is widely used in diabetes complications and cancer treatment.
For this purpose, it is aimed to contribute to the studies to be carried out on the use of silymarin in diabetes complications and cancer patients.
