Kastamonu University, which has added a new one to its national and international achievements, has once again announced its name with its project on new methods in mathematics teaching.
To support research projects that aim to understand the historical, cultural, political, social and economic dynamics of our Republic and to offer new perspectives for the future vision; Among the projects submitted to the “100 Years of Our Republic Special Call” opened within the scope of the 1001-Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program carried out by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) Research Support Programs Directorate (ARDEB), the project titled “Improving the Digital Content Design and Implementation Skills of Prospective Mathematics Teachers in a Video-Based Professional Development Environment”, which was carried out by Assist. Prof.Dr. Fadime Ulusoy, was accepted by TÜBİTAK and awarded 751. 000 TL support for 2 years.
Assist.Prof.Dr. Fadime Ulusoy, one of the faculty members of the Department of Mathematics and Science Education of the Faculty of Education of our university, is the executive director of the project and Assists. Prof.Dr. Dilek Girit Yıldız from Trakya University is a researcher in the project.
The supported project aims to improve the skills of prospective mathematics teachers in designing and implementing digital content in a video-based professional development environment.
Within this project's scope, pre-service teachers are expected to learn to think holistically about the technological, mathematical and pedagogical components in ensuring the quality of activities with dynamic geometry software. In addition, the three-stage methodological approach to be followed in the project is intended to inspire teacher educators in all disciplines to design teaching practice courses. The theoretical network established in the study between the two theories of noticing and event quality is aimed at making important and innovative theoretical contributions to the literature.
Mathematics is going digital
Within the scope of the project, digital activities to be designed by prospective teachers and their teaching videos will be presented on a website, and the content prepared will provide all researchers interested in technology and teacher education with the opportunity to conduct research and design projects. In addition, the project aims to prepare an interactive scientific book based on digital activities to guide educators, book authors and program developers in designing and implementing quality digital activities.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, expressed his satisfaction with this project, which catches up with the age with the use of digital tools in educational methods and is prepared to increase the quality of education, and congratulated our academicians and students involved in the study.
Our Rector expressed his gratitude to the President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar and the members of the Council of Higher Education for their support and thanked Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, President of TÜBİTAK for his encouraging approach to our institution in project studies.
