The project titled “Determination of the Relationship Between Urinary Bisphenol-A Levels in Pregnancy and Maternal Nutrition, Inflammation and Oxidative Stress Biomarkers” conducted by Sümeyye Begüm Atalan, Kastamonu University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, was supported by the Presidency of Turkish Institutes of Health (TÜSEB)
The project, which TÜSEB accepted, was entitled to receive 150 thousand TL support for 12 months.
The project titled “Determination of the Relationship between Urinary Bisphenol-A Levels in Pregnancy and Maternal Nutrition, Inflammation and Oxidative Stress Biomarkers”, which falls within the scope of “Maternal and Child Health”, one of the priority areas of TÜSEB, addresses the relationship between Bisphenol-A, an endocrine disrupting plasticizer, and potential health problems in pregnant women, one of the risk groups in society.
The research aims to raise awareness among pregnant women and encourage mothers to use plastic products more consciously. The project also aims to raise awareness on reducing the plastic footprint of expectant mothers by controlling the generation and consumption of plastic waste.
Prof. Aylin Ayaz, a Hacettepe University Faculty of Health Sciences faculty member, is also a researcher in the project, led by Sümeyye Begüm Atalan.
