The 2023 Turkish Patent Report, which evaluates patent data for the year 2023, was announced to the public with a comprehensive program.
The most interesting part of the program, where TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal delivered the opening speech, was the patent champions of 2023. Accordingly, Kastamonu University ranked 18th in the “TOP 20” list of “Patent Champion Universities”.
In the rankings made on the basis of categories, Our University, which ranked 4th in the field of “Additive Manufacturing Technologies”, showed that it has an important position in the field of agriculture by ranking 7th in the Agriculture category.
Kastamonu University, which has shown that it has an important place in the 'Turkey's Patent Report' prepared by PatentEffect, which is the most comprehensive study on Turkey's patent performance, has once again shown that it has increased its success compared to previous years, has risen to the top and will continue to make a name for itself with the position it has achieved.
Patent data is considered as one of the important parameters used in measuring and monitoring the innovation performance of countries, companies, universities and other technology-developing institutions.
The report, prepared by Patenteffect, provides important data on innovation trends based on information such as the number of patent applications and registrations, since data analysis on patent applications is one of the important parameters used to compare the level of development of countries and institutions in high technology.
The report prepared in this context is based on patent applications (according to the date of the first application) filed with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office by all institutions (companies, universities, research centers, startup companies and individual inventors) operating in Turkey as of December 31, 2023.
The Quality-Oriented Institutional Organization at Kastamonu University shows itself with Sustainable and Permanent Achievements
According to the “Turkey Patent Champions” ranking for 2023 prepared by PatentEffect, Kastamonu University has achieved the same application value as the universities ranked 16th, 17th and 18th in the “TOP 20” list with 15 patent applications.
According to the report, after Ankara, Istanbul and Süleyman Demirel Universities, which have 4 patents in the ranking of universities and research centers with the highest number of patent and utility model applications in the field of Additive Manufacturing Technologies, our University has achieved great success by ranking fourth with 3 patents.
In the same report, in the Agriculture category, Gelişim University ranked first with 36 patent applications, Harran University ranked second with 27 patent applications and Atatürk University ranked third with 22 applications. Our university ranked seventh with 14 patent applications.
Our university ranked seventh with 14 patent applications. Despite the limited agricultural potential and academic infrastructure, this category was also a meaningful indicator, leaving many universities behind in 7th place.
Prof. Dr Ahmet Hamdi Topal expressed his satisfaction with the achievements in the report and underlined that these achievements result from the priority given by Kastamonu University to R&D studies and awareness training on intellectual property rights.
