The “Vital Dimension of Supply Chain Humanitarian Aid Logistics” trainings supported by TUBITAK BİDEB 2237-A Scientific Training Activities Support Program and carried out by Erol Tekin, Faculty Member of Kastamonu University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, were completed.

During the trainings held at Kastamonu University between April 15 and 18, 12 experts from Kastamonu University, Bartın University, Başkent University, and Maltepe University, as well as AFAD and the Social Assistance Foundation, gave lectures.

For 3 days, 20 trainees from different universities received theoretical lessons on humanitarian aid organizations, the importance of humanitarian aid, supply chain management, geographical information systems, digitalization in humanitarian aid, and the importance and role of logistics in humanitarian aid.

The event also included lectures on developing scientific research ideas and effective presentation. In addition, practices were carried out for 1 day to identify research topics to develop approaches to supply chain and logistics activities in humanitarian aid.

Working in groups, the trainees presented their research ideas to jury members.

The event raised the awareness of participants from different universities about supply chain management and logistics in humanitarian aid, especially disasters.

While the importance of logistics in the delivery of humanitarian aid in Turkey's natural disasters, especially earthquakes, was emphasized, Maltepe University faculty member and Vice President of the LODER Logistics Association, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tanyaş, made an informative presentation to undergraduate students about the future of logistics and career opportunities in the logistics sector.

The event ended with the trainee presentations and the presentation of the participation certificates to the trainees on April 18.

All trainees participating in the event thanked Kastamonu University for their hospitality and expressed their satisfaction with both the project coordinator and the project team for taking part in such an event.
