Our university, which focuses on nature tourism and forestry, has expanded its list of foreign initiatives with this one. Within the scope of Erasmus+ Youth Participation Activity (KA154-YOU) activity, the project titled "Climate Vision: Policies for the Future" by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Directorate for European Union Affairs, Turkish National Agency was entitled to be supported with a maximum grant of 53.524,00 Euro.

The project will begin in May 2024 and run for 12 months. It will be carried out with the Kastamonu Governorship Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate, Kastamonu Technopolis, and Cide Local Action Group Association.

The project titled "Climate Vision: Policies for the Future" will be carried out by Berkan Güngör, Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük, and Prof. Dr. Kasım Yenigün. Our vice-rector will lead the project. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erol Tekin, Faculty Member of Economics and Administrative Sciences; Lecturer Ahmet Tabanlıoğlu, Head of IT Department; Lecturer Mehmet Fırat Olgun, Patent Support Office Coordinator; Lecturer Kazım Yasin Özbey, Project Support Office Coordinator; and Lecturer Zuhal Arife Küçük, Technopolis Academy Coordinator; Suat Tüfekci, Provincial Social Studies Project Manager from Kastamonu Governorate; Serdar Kaptan, Chairman of the Board of Directors from Cide Local Action Group Association; and Gülcan Kalay, Local Development Specialist.

Within the project's scope, 60 undergraduate and graduate students from the provinces most affected by climate change-related disasters from every geographical region of Turkey will come to Kastamonu and carry out 6-day training, a one-day workshop, and two-day summit activities.

Thus, the level of awareness and consciousness of young people, who are the architects of the future, about climate change will increase. Young participants who complete the activities within the project's scope will produce a "Climate Vision Policy Document" for public administration institutions, municipalities, non-governmental organizations, and other decision-makers at the end of the project.

In addition to participating students, the project will involve policymakers, decision-makers, experts, researchers, academics, entrepreneurs, and other relevant civil society actors from various cities in our country.

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, underlined that this project will contribute to the international recognition of our university in a sustainable future, environmental awareness, and combating climate change, and once again prove how effective our academic studies are in these vital areas.

Emphasizing the importance of our university's academic and social responsibility activities with such projects, our Rector stated that Kastamonu University will continue strengthening its national and international cooperation and said, "We will continue to work for a greener, more sustainable future together."

Our Rector congratulated our academicians who contributed to the project and expressed his gratitude to the President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof.Erol Özvar, and the Council of Higher Education members for their encouragement. He also thanked Dr. İlker Astarcı, President of the Turkish National Agency, for supporting our institution in the project work.
