Kastamonu University Veterinary Faculty Animal Hospital saved the life of another animal with its state-of-the-art equipment and experienced team. When a 6-year-old female Pug dog was brought to the hospital with a complaint of bloody urine, an unexpected situation was detected during detailed examinations by internal medicine specialists.
The Pug dog, which was brought to the Animal Hospital on February 9, 2024, underwent ultrasonographic and radiological examinations by faculty members of the Department of Internal Medicine. The examination results revealed that, in addition to the stones in the dog's bladder, there were also pathological conditions in the uterus. Considering the severity of the condition, it was determined that a surgical intervention was required.
The surgery was performed on February 15, 2024, accompanied by faculty members of the Department of Surgery and Obstetrics-Gynecology, and lasted approximately 2 hours. During the operation, 3 stones covering approximately 90% of the dog's bladder, as well as the uterus and ovaries, were removed and neutered. Considering that the Pug had respiratory problems during this difficult surgery, the meticulous work and experience of the surgical team were vital.
Animal Hospital Chief Physician Assistant Professor Tarık Şafak said in his statement on the subject, 'Surgeries generally involve risks as Pug breed dogs experience respiratory problems. "However, our animal hospital team brought our patient back to health with meticulous work," he said.
On this important achievement, we congratulate the team of Kastamonu University Veterinary Faculty Animal Hospital and wish them continued success in their future work.
