The 100th Year of the Republic Panel, which was held within the framework of the 100th Anniversary of the Republic activities, was held on October 30, 2023 at the Central Library Cemil Meriç Hall.
Prof. Dr. M. Serhat Yılmaz, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ercan Çelebi, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevda Özkaya Sofu and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sibel Kibar Kavuş participated in the panel titled "100th Year of the Republic" organized by the History Department of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. In the panel, 100 years of the Republic was discussed under various topics.
The panel was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Serhat Yılmaz, Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the first speaker was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ercan Çelebi. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çelebi talked about the importance Atatürk attached to education and shared information about "Atatürk and the University Reform" with the audience.
In the panel where the achievements of the Republic in 100 years were also discussed, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevda Özkaya-Sofu informed the participants about the place and importance of the heroic Turkish women who laid the foundations of the republic by fighting at the front and behind the front in the War of Independence under the title of "Atatürk and Modern Turkish Women". Speaking as the last speaker of the panel, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sibel Kibar Kavuş, in her presentation titled "What is the Ideal of the Republic?", conveyed the basic principles and basic goals of the Modern Republic of Turkey in the 100th year.
At the end of the event, which was attended by many academic and administrative staff and students, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Mehmet Serhat Yılmaz presented a certificate of appreciation to the participants.
