An orientation program was organized for our new students who settled in our University in the Higher Education Selection Exam (YKS). Orientation programs started on October 4 at the Central Library with the Faculty of Education. The program will end with the program of Kastamonu Vocational School on October 13, 2023.
At Kastamonu University, an orientation program was organized to provide information about the university by closely following the adaptation process of newly enrolled students. The opening of the orientation trainings organized to support the adaptation process of the students with the university and the environment and to help them get to know the structure and opportunities of the university was held on October 4 at the Central Library "Sezai Karakoç Conference Hall".
"We will always continue to stand by you"
The opening speech of the orientation program was made by our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal. Our Rector stated that Kastamonu University is taking firm steps towards its goals in accordance with the needs of the time without compromising on quality, strategic goals, international competition and standards. In addition, our Rector reminded the students who leave their families and continue their education life that they may face difficulties in life and said that the education period is a long-term process that requires determination, perseverance, struggle, sometimes stubborn and sometimes risk-taking. Our Rector stated that as academic and administrative staff, he will always be with the students and will continue to make them feel and experience the privileges of being a member of Kastamonu University and emphasized that students can apply to academic and administrative units with peace of mind to get help with the problems they will experience.
"Our door is always open"
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Kasım Yenigün, who took the floor after the Rector, gave brief information about city life and university life and reminded the students that the doors are always open during the education period and after graduation. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Yenigün stated that the Technology Transfer Office can help students realize their entrepreneurial ideas and emphasized that students should benefit from all the opportunities of the university.
"The teaching profession is based on love"
Taking the floor after Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yenigün, Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kaçar reminded the students that the basis of the teaching profession is love and gave information about the academic and administrative staff of the Faculty of Education. Prof. Dr. Kaçar also gave advice on how students can easily adapt to their new life and concluded his speech by wishing all students success in their new educational life.
While the Faculty of Education and Faculty of Science met with their students on October 4, 2023, faculty officials informed the students about the physical conditions of the faculty, academic and administrative staff, and departments.
Officials from the Department of Student Affairs, Department of Information Technologies, Department of Health and Culture explained the e-mail, EBYS system course registration, double major, transfer, foreign language preparation exemption exams, cafeteria services, sports facilities, student communities, social and cultural activities. During the event, students were informed about the fight against addiction, while Teknokent, Forestry Nature Tourism Specialization Office and Career Center shared information about how to spend university life more efficiently.
Within the framework of the orientation program, the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design and the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences will meet with students on October 5, while the Faculty of Theology and the Faculty of Communication will host students at the Central Library on October 6. On Monday, October 9, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture will meet with the students of the Faculty of Forestry and the Faculty of Health Sciences on Tuesday, October 10. On October 11, it will come together with the students of the School of Civil Aviation and the Faculty of Sports Sciences.
