The documentary film about "Kastamonu Susamsız Simidi", written and directed by Lecturer Emre Ertürk, who works in the Press and Publication Consultancy Department of our University, "A Story From The Palaces to The Present: Kastamonu Bagel without Sesame" was eligible to be screened at the New York Short Film Festival. In the festival, which includes films from different countries, the work is the only film accepted from Turkey. In the film directed by Ertürk; The historical story of sesame-free bagel, which is an indispensable element of Kastamonu culture, its production stages and its place in society are discussed. During the filming in a bagel bakery in Nasrullah Square, the story of the bagel from production to consumer is conveyed to art lovers with a traditional narrative.
While Hacer Üreden, one of the students of our University, was the cinematographer of the film, Okan Yılmaz, also a student of our University, carried out the camera shots. The art director of the film was Tuba Bilirdönmez, the project coordinator was Lecturer Dr. Hatice Çakır, while the editor of the film was undertaken by Dr. Ece Erol, one of the editors of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT).
Expressing his pride in the success of the film, writer-director Emre Ertürk said: "It is an honour for me to introduce a value that is on every table of Kastamonu, a gastronomy city, to the whole world. We have achieved this with an experienced team. Our aim is to take this success one step further with our team. We have many cinema / visual art projects planned for Kastamonu, where we currently live and work, and we plan to implement them as soon as possible.
