“ENSUR-HOST Enhancing the Sustainable Rural Development Through a Homestay Tourism Training Moodle and Creating a Digital Eurasian Local Recipe Book” carried out under the coordination of our University within the scope of Erasmus+ Program Cooperation Partners in Adult Education activity (Erasmus + KA220), Erasmus + Project was introduced to the public with the opening ceremony held at our University on  23rd of May, 2023.

Kastamonu Chief Public Prosecutor Ercan Ceylan, National Agency Adult Education Department Head Dr. Kemal Başçı, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük and Prof. Dr. Prof. Mehmet Atalan and project partner organizations from Stavanger University (Norway). Dr. Hüseyin Araslı from Sannio University (Italy), Prof. Dr. Biaggio Simonetti, Prof. Dr. Francesco Pepe and Raffaela Ciuffreda, from the University of Seville (Spain). Prof.Dr. María Rosario González-Rodríguez and Prof. Dr. Africa Ruiz-Gándara, National Agency Adult Education Assistant Specialist Kübra Okur, representatives of public institutions and organizations, academic and administrative staff and students attended.

At the opening meeting, which started with the national anthems of the participating countries, project coordinator Assistant Prof. Nagihan Çakmakoğlu Arıcı introduced the home boarding training module consisting of 14 different trainings and 208 lesson hours, which will be given simultaneously in 5 different languages to the local participants of 4 partner organizations within the scope of the project. Within the scope of the project activities, which aim to support development in rural areas by training adults in a multicultural technology-oriented environment and donated with 250 thousand Euros, a distance online and joint training module in 5 languages, which includes home boarding training for the local people living in the rural areas of Kastamonu and partner organizations, and the digital Eurasian cookbook, compatible with virtual and augmented reality, will be created that includes the regional dishes of the four establishments.

Speaking at the opening speech, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Prof. Dr. Alptekin Sökmen emphasized that with this project, they aim for adults living in rural areas to make a meaningful contribution to the economy of their country by taking home boarding education, and at the same time, they aim to set sail for global partnerships and new collaborations of the faculty and the university. Representatives of partner organizations also introduced their universities, explaining their aims and roles in the project, and expressed that they are satisfied with the cooperation they have made with our University and Turkey, and that they want to cooperate in different projects in the future.

Head of the National Agency Adult Education Department, Dr. Kemal Başçı gave information about the activities carried out under the Presidency, and congratulated our University and partner institutions for the project and its contribution to the city economy.

Speaking at the meeting, our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük stated that with this project, adults will be educated in a multicultural technology-oriented environment and support will be given to rural development.

After the opening speeches, participation certificates were presented to the representatives from the partner organization involved in the project. The opening of the project came to an end after a group photo was taken to commemorate the day.
