The students of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of our university participated in TEKNOFEST this year, as they do every year. This year, the technology teams established by our students competed in different categories and made us proud by reaching the finals among thousands of teams.
The WeAr Team, involving Supervisor Assistant Professor Erman Zurnacı, Furkan Baldemir, Duygu Batmaz, competed in the Tourism Technologies Category with the "Augmented and Virtual Reality Supported Digital Assistant" application, which supports cultural development by encouraging museum visits with digital games and virtualization for learning purposes, and became one of the 76 finalist teams selected from among 2389 teams.
The Aren Team involving İlyas Sancar İzzetgil, Enes Yüksel, Muhammed Alaçam, Doğan Özcan, Mensur Basan, Berat Aktaş and Team Supervisor Assistant Professor Erman Zurnacı, competed in the Agricultural Technologies Category with the "UREN-Artificial Intelligence Supported Autonomous Greenhouse" project producing its own energy for farmers, storing rainwater, controlled with mobile, web and smart watch applications and performing real-time plant analysis with artificial intelligence supported embedded systems and became one of the 76 finalist teams selected from among 5283 teams.
The STELLA Team, consisting of Enes Yüksel, İlyas Sancar İzzetgil, Ömer Metin, Gizem Ateş, Enes Furkan Kılıç, Mensur Basan, Berat Aktaş and Nazife Eltutan, competed in the Education Technologies Category with the project ”NÜKLEODA- Cell Virtual Reality App” providing an enjoyable and instructive journey between plant, animal, fungal and bacterial cells and became one of the 99 finalist teams selected from among 123.001 teams.
The MOBI Team, consisting of Enes Yüksel, İlyas Sancar İzzetgil, Sevde Şakar, Abdurrahman Kaya, Enes Furkan Kılıç, Gizem Ateş, Mensur Basan and Berat Aktaş, competed in the Tourism Technologies Category with the "TROSO-Drone Rental Application" project offering e-commerce-based drone rental service, recording memories with video service and estimating the number of museum visitors for different periods, and became one of the 76 finalist teams selected from among 2389 teams.
In addition, the G-Mex Team won the 1st place in the Category of University Research Project Competitions Education, organized by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), with the project titled “Developing an Application for Secondary School Students to Experience Modern Physics and Atomic Physics Subject Content in Interactive Virtual Reality Environment”. 111 projects participated in the final competition in the competition, where 511 project applications were made in 9 fields this year. Our students achieved a great success by being selected among the 14 projects that were eligible to be finalists in the Education Category. Our students received their awards from our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, at the award ceremony held in the TEKNOFEST area.
