The Chair of the Preschool Education Department of the Fundemental Education Division organized a conference called "See, Hear, Don't Touch: Don't Stay Silent About Child Abuse!" with assistance from the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Education at Kastamonu University. Scholars and students attentively followed the ceremony, which took place at the Hoca Ahmet Yesevi Cultural Center on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
The conference was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kaçar; the Vice Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emine Karasu Avcı; the Head of the Fundamental Education Department, Prof. Dr. Eyüp Akman, the Head of the Preschool Education Department, Prof. Dr. Atila Çağlar; as well as faculty staff and students.
Four speakers took part in the conference, which was conducted by Prof. Dr. E. Nihal Lindberg. While Dr. Yeşim Akın Yalçın described the notion of abuse, its psychological impacts, and the significance of teachers' observational abilities, research assistant Nurcihan Tutar highlighted the role of teachers in the early detection of child abuse. Social Work Specialist Eylem Aydın gave information on social service intervention procedures and methodologies, while Attorney Nursaç Çiftçi discussed teachers' reporting requirements under child protection law.
At the end of the conference, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kaçar, presented certificates of appreciation to the speakers. The event concluded with an interactive session where participants' questions were answered.
