The "Traditional Daday Chair Making Workshop," organized as part of the cultural heritage awareness activities conducted within Kastamonu University, was successfully completed.

Under the direction of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ümmü Karagöz İşleyen and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Osman Emre Özkan, students had the chance to witness the manufacturing process of the Daday chair, a symbol of the area, during this unique event at our university's Wood Culture Application and Research Center (AKAUM).

In the workshop, participants were informed about the stages that chairs produced with traditional craftsmanship go through. Processes such as wood selection, shaping, assembly, and natural finishing were demonstrated practically under the guidance of master craftsman Mustafa Hükümen. The students learned traditional techniques by directly participating in the production process.

Evaluating the event, our university's AKAUM Director and Deputy General Manager of Kastamonu TTO, Assist. Prof.Dr. Mehmet Karamanoğlu, emphasized that preserving traditional production methods and their transmission to younger generations is crucial for cultural continuity. Our university's TGB Entrepreneurship Office Coordinator, Lecturer Dr. Berkan Güngör, emphasized that traditional production methods should not only be preserved but also integrated with a new generation entrepreneurial approach, noting that examples based on craftsmanship and manual labor could form the foundation of sustainable and original enterprises.

The students expressed great satisfaction with observing the local production culture on-site and having the opportunity to experience it.

At the end of the event, a plaque of appreciation was presented to the master craftsman, Mustafa Hükmen, by the Center Director, Deputy General Manager, Dr. Faculty Member Mehmet Karamanoğlu, for their contributions to preserving traditional handicrafts.
