Kastamonu University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences was represented at an essential event in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, within the framework of international academic collaborations. Dr. Orhan Söylemez, Head of the Department of Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literatures, was the guest of the "Skopje Turkology Conferences" series held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
In Skopje, at the event organized by the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at the Blaže Koneski Faculty of Philology, University of Saints Cyril and Methodius, Prof. Dr. Söylemez delivered a presentation titled "The Turkish World in Turkey and Cengiz Aytmatov."In the conference, Söylemez, examining the cultural and literary ties that Turkey has established with the Turkish world through the works of Cengiz Aytmatov, conveyed Aytmatov's literary influence in Turkey and his contributions to the common Turkish cultural heritage to the audience.
University academics, students, media representatives, Yunus Dilber, Coordinator of the Yunus Emre Institute in Skopje, Prof. Dr. Aktan Ago from the Marko Cepenkov Folklore Institute, and many guests attended the event.
Delivering the opening and closing speeches, the Head of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Prof. Dr. Osman Emin, emphasized the purpose of the conference series and its contribution to the department, highlighting the event's importance in scientific sharing. In the closing, he thanked Prof. Dr. Orhan Söylemez for his contributions and emphasized the necessity of continuing academic collaborations.
The conference, which took place with the intense interest of the participants, concluded with a question-and-answer session.
