The third session of the “Kastamonu Talks” series, organized by the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Kastamonu University, was held on March 25, 2025, in the faculty's conference hall. The  “Disaster Management and Risks in Kastamonu” panel addressed disaster management processes, humanitarian aid logistics, and institutional activities related to disaster response.

The event began with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Orhan Kandemir, Dean of the Faculty. Emphasizing that Kastamonu has faced various natural disasters, Prof. Kandemir highlighted the importance of reducing disaster risks and developing effective management strategies during crises.

Assoc moderated the panel: Prof. Dr. Bülent Yıldız, a Department of Business Administration faculty member. Following the opening remarks, the panelists delivered their presentations.

Dr. Suat Tüfekçi, Director of Kastamonu Provincial Directorate of Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD), gave a presentation titled “AFAD and Its Activities,” where he discussed AFAD’s role in Turkey’s disaster management system, ongoing efforts specific to the Kastamonu region, and projects aimed at raising public awareness.

Sabit Tavil, Head of the Turkish Red Crescent Kastamonu Branch, spoke on “Red Crescent and Disaster Management,” providing insight into the organization's responsibilities during disasters, emergency aid services, logistical support processes, and volunteer activities.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nazlıcan Dindarik, from the Department of International Trade and Logistics, delivered a presentation on “Humanitarian Aid Logistics and Its Importance.” She underlined the critical role of logistics in disaster response and emphasized that timely and effective aid delivery is vital to crisis management. She also noted that proper logistics planning is a key factor in the success of disaster management.

After the panel, Prof. Dr. Orhan Kandemir presented certificates of appreciation to the panelists for their contributions to the event.
