The second of the “Kastamonu Talks” events organized by the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences on the occasion of March 8 International Women's Day at Kastamonu University was held on March 4, 2025, with a panel on “The Power of Women in Academia and the City - Kastamonu.”
The panel, which started with the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Orhan Kandemir, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, was moderated by Faculty Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Omca Altın. At the event, valuable speeches were made on women's strong roles in academia and the city.
In the panel, Kastamonu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Women Entrepreneurs Board President Halime Nilgün Şener shared the difficulties and successes of women entrepreneurship in her “The Life of a Woman Entrepreneur” speech. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Eski discussed the historical and cultural importance of the city's women with the title “Kastamonu Women.” Prof. Dr. Aybala Demirci Aksoy, a Faculty Member of the Department of Finance and Banking of our Faculty talked about “Being a Woman in Academia” and shared the obstacles women face in the academic world and the successes they have achieved—finally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şükran Sırkıntıoğlu Yıldırım, Faculty Member of the Department of Banking and Finance, gave a speech titled “Building the Future with Women Power: Entrepreneurial Women,” emphasized how entrepreneurial women can create change in society.
The panel ended with the presentation of plaques to the moderator and speakers by Dean Prof. Dr. Orhan Kandemir.
