Kastamonu University Faculty of Sports Sciences, Physical Education, and Sports Teaching 1st year students came together at the ‘Movement Education Festival’ organized to transform their theoretical knowledge into practice within the scope of the Movement Education course.
The festival, coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özlem Alagül was designed for students to exhibit their competencies in movement education and reinforce their learning. In the event, an educational and fun learning environment was created with the peer teaching method.
Within the festival's scope, various stations containing different stages of movement education were set up. Games and activities were organized at each station for basic movement skills, specialized movement skills, and sports skills. Students took on the roles of both learners and instructors by guiding each other at the stations.
In the peer teaching method activity, students participated in a two-way learning process and shared knowledge and experience. This method also allowed the participants to develop their communication, cooperation, and leadership skills.
Assoc stated that the festival attracted attention through its fun and educational aspects. Prof. Dr. Özlem Alagül noted that the event not only provides students with movement skills but also offers the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which are essential for the teaching profession.
