Kastamonu University Kastamonu University Quality Ambassadors student community held a conference on 18 December 2024 at the Central Library Cemil Meriç Hall within the scope of the project 'Climate Vision: Policies for the Future' project, a conference was held at the Central Library Cemil Meriç Hall on 18 December 2024.
The event, which aims to raise environmental awareness and raise awareness on combating climate change, was held with intense participation.
The program's opening speech was delivered by the 'Climate Vision: Policies for the Future' project coordinator, Lect. Prof. Dr. Berkan Güngör made the opening speech.
In his speech, Güngör stated that climate change is not only a scientific but also a social and cultural issue. Drawing attention to the importance of young people in this process, Güngör stated that universities play a critical role in producing solutions to the climate crisis.
Another conference speaker was Orhan Açıkgöz, a student of our University's Department of Turkish Language and Literature.
In his presentation titled 'Climate Change and Climate Philosophy,’' Açıkgöz emphasized that climate change should be addressed as an environmental problem and with its ethical and philosophical dimensions. Analyzing the relationship between humans and nature from a historical and intellectual perspective, Açıkgöz underlined the responsibilities of individuals towards the environment.
Participants shared their ideas on climate policies and sustainability in the Q&A session organized after the conference.
The event ended with a discussion of solutions to combat climate change.
