‘Home Boarding Information Seminar’ was held at Kastamonu University Faculty of Tourism on 28 November 2024.

The seminar, supported by the European Union and organized within the scope of the project titled ‘Supporting Sustainable Rural Development with the Home Pension Training Module and Developing a Digital Eurasian Cookbook,’ was coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nagihan Çakmakoğlu Arıcı.

The opening of the seminar was held at Kastamonu University Faculty of Tourism Ilgaz Graduate Hall. In the event attended by academicians, students, and sector representatives, the place and importance of home boarding in tourism was discussed in detail.

They are making the opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nagihan Çakmakoğlu Arıcı emphasized the importance of homeboarding in terms of sustainable tourism. Stating that this project aims to revitalize tourism in rural areas, Arıcı noted that while home boarding supports the local economy, it also significantly contributes to the protection of cultural heritage. In addition to the theoretical information, practical examples were presented in the seminar, aiming to equip the participants in the field.

Pınar Tokgöz, Selcan Özdemir, and M. Tolga Akdoğan from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism took part in the seminar as speakers. Pınar Tokgöz stated that home boarding has a great potential for local development. Tokgöz stated that home boarding, a part of sustainable tourism, provides an economic contribution to the people of the region when managed correctly and helps protect cultural values.

In her speech, Selcan Özdemir presented examples from sectoral practices. Referring to the importance of guest satisfaction in-home boarding, Özdemir emphasized that small businesses can achieve great success with the right service approach. She stated that the hosts could attract more tourists with professional approach, revitalizing the region's tourism M. Tolga Akdoğan drew attention to the legal regulations. Akdoğan stated that the execution of home boarding within the legal framework provides a safe environment for both operators and guests. He also said that knowing the legislation correctly will play an essential role in preventing possible problems.During the seminar, participants received information on tourism management, service and accommodation management, guest relations, marketing of local organic products, and digital marketing.

On the program's second dprogrametical knowledge will be put into practice with a field trip to Kılıç Horse Farm in Daday dthe istrict. Participants will be able to observe the home boarding business in the field and work on how local products can be utilized in tourism.
