Kastamonu University Faculty of Tourism offered the participants the opportunity to experience the unique flavors of Korean cuisine with the Korean Cuisine Training Event. The event lasted two days, from 24-25 October 2024, bringing together gastronomy enthusiasts and cultural interaction. The first day of the event started on 24 October with a Tteok-galbi (dumplings prepared with rice cake) workshop led by Korean chefs.
The training took place in a dynamic environment where our students participated practically. Korean chefs explained the stages of the Tteok-galbi recipe in detail and introduced the special techniques used to prepare the dish.
The participants had the opportunity to experience the whole process, from ingredient selection to cooking, under the guidance of the chefs. At the end of the training, the students cooked their own Tteok-galbi and had an essential experience of Korean cuisine. This hands-on workshop allowed the participants to improve their culinary skills and get to know Korean culture more closely.
On the second day of the event, 25 October, hands-on training on preparing other dishes specific to Korean cuisine continued. Students had the opportunity to try different recipes under the guidance of Korean chefs. In this process, the diversity and richness of Korean cuisine were once again demonstrated. The participants learned the special techniques used in the preparation of traditional dishes and had both educational and enjoyable moments.
At noon, Korean veterans, students, and guests came together at a dinner party organized as part of the event. In this particular meal, the participants were served iconic flavors of Korean cuisine. This meeting, which took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, strengthened cultural ties and built bridges of friendship among the participants.
At Kastamonu University, we would like to thank the Korean Cultural Centre Kastamonu Representative Office for their significant contribution to the realization of the event.
