Kastamonu University Faculty of Communication has achieved great success in the short film competition organized by the Sarıay Association with the theme “Smoke Don't Smoke Your Life.”. The short film “Smoke's Whisper," written and directed by Ramazan Yakut, a third-year student of the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema, won the second prize in the competition.
The competition, organized by the Sarıay Association, aimed to increase the awareness of young people about nicotine addiction, to give short and compelling messages to the public, to raise awareness, and to develop the perspectives of young people who want to start in the field of cinema in terms of cinema art on thematic issues. The films that ranked in the competition effectively reflected the importance of the issue and the sensitivity of young people to it.
At the award ceremony held in Istanbul, Kastamonu University Faculty of Communication students Ramazan Yakut and Hicabi Kurt received their awards. The students who attended the ceremony made both their universities and their departments proud with the awards they received. Ramazan Yakut's film “Whisper of Smoke” was evaluated as an essential step towards raising awareness in society by drawing attention to nicotine addiction.
