A 2-month-old cat, who was being treated at Kastamonu University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Animal Hospital, was kept alive with a successful operation.
On February 19, 2024, a 2-month-old female cat weighing 1 kg was brought to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Animal Hospital within the scope of the protocol made with Kastamonu Municipality Temporary Animal Nursing Home, and fractures in the finger bones were detected in clinical and radiographic examination. In the operation of this tiny cat, which was taken into emergency operation on February 20, 2024, the fractures in her fingers were successfully treated.
Assistant Professor Tarık Şafak, Chief Physician of the Animal Hospital, said, "Our patient is a pediatric cat weighing 1 kg. Our team worked with the same sensitivity as physicians work with in the surgeries of babies. Our team at the Animal Hospital of our university performed orthopedic surgery in a very small area considering the size of the cat's finger bones. Our controls continue on our patients. However, the critical process has been overcome. Now this tiny patient will be able to use his foot in a healthy way."
While the Animal Hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of our University continues to work for the healthy lives of animals, it draws attention with its fast and effective interventions in such cases.
