The project named "Computer Aided Training Modeling with Software and Hardware Integration of Equipment Used in the Training of Sports Horses (Pessoa)", carried out under the leadership of LecturerAyhan Şanlı, who works at Kastamonu University Daday Nafi and Ümit Çeri Vocational School, and with the support of the Turkish Equestrian Federation, was carried out by TÜBİTAK. Approved by the "Seal of Excellence".
This study, which was one of the 153 projects selected among 2885 project applications made to the TÜBİTAK 1512 Entrepreneurship Support Program (BİGG) 2023/1 project call, also entered the top 11 among the projects approved within Teknopark Istanbul and led to the establishment of Prolunging Technology Joint Stock Company. The project, supported by the invention notification (patent) reported to Kastamonu University Technology Transfer Office, aims to monitor the muscle development of sports horses by integrating EMG (Electromyography) into the Pessoa-Lonj material used in the training of horses.
Within the scope of the project, a mobile system will be developed that allows instant improvements in the training method after field research and enables the application of the timed training method.
The project includes experts on superficial EMG, such as Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ebru Kaya Mutlu and Istanbul Medeniyet University Assistant Professor Tansu Birinci. In addition, in the project, Assistant Professor Yavuzkan Paksoy from Necmettin Erbakan University, who is an expert in the field of horse breeding, Department Head lecturer Ali Ekber Ün and Lecturer Bahadır Kaan Utlu from Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Associate Profesor Gülizar Cengiz and Hikmet Haberal, faculty members of our University's Tourism Faculty, who are experts in promotion and marketing, and Software Engineer Serap Herkiloğlu. and field staff Metin Kaya.
The superficial EMG system to be used on sports horses will provide information by monitoring muscle activation and will work without harming the health of the horses. Surface EMG sensors integrated with Pessoa equipment, together with the mobile system, will monitor the activation of muscle groups in real time and provide the opportunity to intervene when necessary.
This study, conducted for the health and performance of sport horses, is considered an important step in the equestrian industry.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal congratulated the academics who took part in this project and study and thanked the President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar for their support. He expressed his gratitude to Prod. Dr. Erol Özvar and the members of YÖK. In addition, our Rector would like to thank TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal for his encouraging approach to our institution in project studies.
As Kastamonu University, we congratulate the project coordinator Lecturer Ayhan Şanlı and the researchers involved in the project and wish them continued success in their work.
