The 8th International Summer School event (8. International Summer School “Tree Rings, Climate, Natural Resources, and Human Interactions) , coordinated by Prof. Dr. Fatih Sivrikaya , one of the faculty members of the Faculty of Forestry of our university, was held between 25 July - 6 August 2022.
15 participants from Pakistan, Georgia, India, Philippines, Spain, Romania and Turkey and Prof. Dr. Ramzi Touchan and Prof. Dr. Dave Meko from The University of Arizona (USA) as a lecturer, attended the summer school supported by TUBITAK.
Within the scope of the international summer school, dendrochronology techniques were introduced and its role in climatology, ecology and natural resource management was explained practically. Within the scope of the program, land works were carried out in Araç Forestry Operation Directorate. It was stated that the information and findings obtained during both the field study and the theoretical trainings would be evaluated for publication in international journals.
Expressing his views on the international activity contributed by TÜBİTAK, General Directorate of Forestry, Chamber of Forestry Engineers, Kastamonu Entegre and AKRA Forestry Engineering, our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal congratulated our academics who contributed, stating that they will continue to spread their project studies and provide all kinds of support to such scientific activities, and that the international summer school will contribute to the sustainability of natural resources in Kastamonu, especially in our country and region.
