According to the results of the Turkey Patent Report 2024 published by PatentEffect, Kastamonu University ranked 17th among universities with the most patent applications in 2024.Our university also entered the list for the first time this year, based on the total patent applications made since its establishment, securing the 19th position.
We ranked in the Top 20 in two different rankings
According to the "2024 Universities with the Most Patent Applications" list published annually by PatentEffect, our university rose to 17th place in 2024 with its patent applications.
However, our university achieved a significant milestone this year by securing a place for the first time in the long-term list, which is based on the total number of patent applications made since the establishment of universities, and it ranked 19th.The high number of patent applications made in the last 3-4 years was decisive in our university's inclusion in this list.
Outstanding Performance in Thematic Areas
In the Turkey Patent Report 2024, our university also held a remarkable position in the lists prepared according to thematic areas.In the category of agricultural technologies, it ranked 5th in the TOP 10 list by sharing its position with five different universities with 17 patent applications.Similarly, in the field of additive manufacturing technologies, it ranked 3rd by sharing the position with five universities through its 4 applications, thus also securing a top position in this area.

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, made the following remarks regarding the achieved success: "The fact that we have risen to 17th place nationwide in the number of patent applications in 2024, and that we have entered the total patent applications list covering all years in 19th place for the first time this year, is a source of pride for our University. Our Rector also emphasized that the rankings achieved by our University in strategic areas such as agricultural technologies and additive manufacturing are concrete indicators of the contributions made to the national R&D ecosystem.
