Kastamonu University has been granted a two-year accreditation due to the Institutional Accreditation Program for 2024, carried out by the Higher Education Quality Council of Türkiye (YÖKAK). The decision was made during the Council’s March 21, 2025 meeting.
With its ongoing efforts to maintain quality standards in education, research & development, and institutional governance, our University has joined the ranks of higher education institutions accredited by YÖKAK. The evaluation process—carried out with the contributions of academic and administrative units—has demonstrated the effectiveness of our institutional quality assurance system.
"Our Goal is Full Five-Year Accreditation"
In his statement regarding the accreditation, Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal noted that the process was intense and demanding but served as a valuable opportunity to assess the University's current status and identify areas for development. Expressing gratitude to all academic and administrative staff, students, and internal and external stakeholders who contributed to the process, the Rector emphasized that this step was a critical milestone for institutional advancement.
Highlighting the primary goal for the upcoming period, Prof. Topal stated that efforts will focus on converting this two-year accreditation into a full five-year accreditation following the following evaluation. He affirmed that future actions will be aligned with the report provided by YÖKAK, which contains concrete, guiding, and actionable recommendations. The Rector also thanked the chair and members of the YÖKAK evaluation team for their objective contributions to the process.
Stressing the importance of continuous improvement in performance indicators, the Rector underlined that necessary activities will be planned and implemented to sustain this process and elevate the University's quality standards even further. He also reiterated the University's commitment to advancing its quality assurance efforts in collaboration with all stakeholders.
Rector Topal expressed his sincere appreciation to YÖKAK President Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak and the members of the Council for their supportive approach and valuable encouragement throughout the process. He also extended his gratitude to YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar and Council of Higher Education (YÖK) members for their support in implementing quality-oriented strategies and contributing to the University's continuous improvement journey.
