The 'Young Touch to Barrier-Free Future' project, initiated by Kastamonu University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of International Trade and Logistics students within the scope of the 'Business Ethics and Social Responsibility' course, aims to improve the quality of life of physically disabled individuals and raise social awareness. As the project's first step, two battery-powered wheelchairs donated by VOLTA company, one of the project partners, were delivered to exceptional individuals on 14 January 2025.
After the chairs were delivered, the project team paid a thank-you visit to our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal. Huriye Boyraz, President of the Association for Solidarity of Special Individuals and Their Families, Project Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erol Tekin, Project Coordinator Oğuzhan Şahin, and students participated in the visit.
Rector Prof. Dr. Topal congratulated the students who implemented the project and the VOLTA company that supported the project with their donations and emphasized that such social responsibility activities strengthen the spirit of solidarity in all segments of society. 'Every step taken to find solutions to the difficulties faced by people with disabilities contributes to the construction of a more equal and inclusive society. I am proud that the students of our University are involved in such a meaningful project.'
During the visit, the project team stated that as the second phase of the project, an awareness walk would be organized at our University with the participation of disabled individuals and the community. It was stated that this event aims to give the message that disabilities are not only physical but also can be overcome with social sensitivity and solidarity.
