Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, participated in the 'Images of the Year' voting organized by Anadolu Agency (AA) and voted in five categories among the photographs taken by AA correspondents and photojournalists in Turkey and abroad throughout 2024.
While our Rector voted for Halil Sağırkaya's photo titled 'Blockade' in the Sports category, he chose Osmancan Gürdoğan's work titled 'Miners' in the Daily Life category. In the News category, our Rector voted for Ali Jadallah's photograph 'What Remains,' in the Natural Life and Environment category; he preferred Daniel Ceng's 'Hiking Trail.' In the 'Free Syria' category, which was specially added this year, he voted for Hesham Elsherif's‘ Freedom Tower' photograph.
Our Rector stated that Anadolu Agency's 'Photographs of the Year' study is an essential tool that encourages people to understand each other and raise societal awareness. He emphasized that these studies make valuable contributions to the permanent place of the events in the memories and the shaping of social memory.
Stating that each photograph carries deep meanings and is extremely impressive, our Rector thanked the photographers who recorded these precious moments and the reporters and photojournalists who shared these frames with the society.
