UI GreenMetric (Green Measurement) World Ranking 2024, which evaluates higher education institutions in the international arena in environmental awareness and sustainability, has been announced. Our University, which specializes in Forestry and Nature Tourism in Turkey and has made a name for itself with its efforts to protect the environment, ranked 321st among 1,477 universities in the UI GreenMetric 2024 World Universities ranking. Our University ranked 33rd among 120 universities in Turkey.
In the UI GreenMetric 2024 World Ranking, scoring was made in Building and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Water, Waste, Transport, and Education. The University'suniversity's scores in these categories determined its place in the world ranking in total. Kastamonu University ranked 62nd in the world and 4th in Turkey in the category of Education-Research Area in UI GreenMetric 2024 evaluations.
The ranking aims to provide information on universities' sustainability efforts and current conditions and policies regarding institutional improvements. The study is based on data collected from universities worldwide through an online survey. This ranking is expected to attract the attention of university leaders and stakeholders to pay more attention to education and research on global climate change, clean energy, water conservation, waste recycling, green transport, and sustainability.
'We will continue to develop environmentally sensitive projects.'
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, made evaluations regarding the studies carried out in the field of environment and sustainability. Emphasizing the importance of practices such as afforestation, energy, and water saving, as well as the protection of green areas, our Rector stated that Kastamonu University would continue to develop environmentally sensitive projects.
