Kastamonu University has achieved critical success with its accessibility efforts. As a result of the examinations carried out by the Accessibility Monitoring and Supervision Commission operating within the Governorship of Kastamonu, our University Rectorate Building and Ay Yıldız Sports and Life Centre, which were determined to comply with the standards in terms of accessibility for disabled citizens, were entitled to receive an 'Accessibility Certificate.' The certificates were presented to our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, by Kastamonu Governor Meftun Dallı at a ceremony held at the Governor's Office on December 4, 2024.
Governor Meftun Dallı, Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük, Provincial Director of Family and Social Services Harun Köksalan and representatives of relevant public institutions attended the ceremony.

Accessibility Monitoring and Inspection Commissions established by the Ministry of Family and Social Services within the scope of Law No. 5378 on Disabled People regularly inspect public buildings, open spaces, and public transport. In this context, during the examinations carried out by the Kastamonu Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, it was determined that our University's Rectorate Building and Ay Yıldız Sports and Life Centre comply with accessibility standards.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Meftun Dallı stated that Kastamonu University's work on accessibility is exemplary and emphasized the importance of the participation of disabled people in social life. Dallı stated that accessibility should be the priority of all institutions.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, stated that Kastamonu University sees being an accessible university for everyone as one of its primary goals. He emphasized that the work carried out in this direction will continue with determination.
During the ceremony, information about the studies carried out on accessibility and future projects was shared. The program ended with the participants taking a souvenir photo.

Accessibility Logo and Meaning

The logo used with the Accessibility Certificate symbolizes global access and social cohesion. The human figure with open arms symbolizes the inclusion of individuals with different characteristics, while the symmetrical circle represents harmony between individuals. The four blue circles in the logo symbolize mobility, the open arms symbolize inclusiveness, and the head symbolizes cognitive thinking.
