Prof. Dr. Alptekin Sökmen, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism of our University, who passed away due to a sudden illness, was buried in the Erzin district of Hatay province on 16 November 2024 after the funeral prayer following the afternoon prayer. Before the funeral prayer, it was held in front of Prof. Dr. Sökmen's house in Erzin district by his relatives and loved ones.
Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük, Rector of Kayseri University Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa, Dean of Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Faculty of Tourism Prof. Dr. İrfan Yazıcıoğlu, academic and administrative staff, students and relatives of our late professor attended the funeral ceremony.
Prof. Dr. Alptekin Sökmen was the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism at our University. Prof. Dr. Sökmen, who led the faculty academically and administratively, was known as an administrator who pioneered not only the development of the faculty but also essential projects for the development of our province and region. He significantly contributed to strengthening our university's national and international relations and implemented many important projects for our province and the region.
