Kastamonu University participated in the ‘Breath for the Future, Breath for Humanity’ event on 11 November, National Afforestation Day.Kastamonu University participated in the ‘Breath for the Future, Breath for Humanity’ sapling planting event held under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and within the scope of 11 November National Afforestation Day organized by the General Directorate of Forestry of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
The event started in 81 provinces simultaneously at 11.11 am and was held in Aksinir Village Central Neighbourhood of Kastamonu. Saplings were planted in the event to increase environmental awareness and contribute to a greener future.
Kastamonu Governor Meftun Dallı, Kastamonu MP Serap Ekmekci, Deputy Mayor Hasan Fehmi Taş, Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, Kastamonu Regional Director of Forestry Hakan Yaslıkaya, provincial protocol, Regional Directorate of Forestry employees, members of non-governmental organizations and citizens attended the event. In addition, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük, Faculty of Forestry academicians and students also took part in the event on behalf of our University.
After the silence of respect and reading the National Anthem, Kastamonu Regional Director of Forestry Hakan Yaslıkaya made the opening speech. Yaslıkaya pointed out that afforestation works throughout Turkey protect natural life and provide a sustainable environment.
After the speeches, the participants completed the event by bringing saplings to the soil and giving life water. Our University, a specialized university in forestry and nature tourism, continues to contribute to the efforts to protect and increase the forest presence in the region.
