Important steps have been taken within the scope of the work initiated after the buildings used by our university as the Faculty of Education for many years and known as Çarşı Campus were subject to negative reports revealing that they were risky in terms of earthquake safety. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal made important statements about the work that has now reached the implementation stage.

Pointing out that these characteristics of Kastamonu, which is also a city of education, culture, and tourism, were taken into consideration during the new project design phase initiated after the relocation process, our Rector explained that this area is planned to serve as an Education and Culture Campus. Within the scope of the project, it is planned to build a Central Classroom Building, an Application Hotel for the Faculty of Tourism, and a Congress and Culture Centre where cultural events in the city can be held by preserving the existing historical trees and landscape integrity instead of the demolished buildings.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal stated that the site plan of the Education and Culture Campus was completed and approved and it was decided to implement the project in three stages within the scope of the investment proposal submitted to the Presidential Strategy Presidency in 2023. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal stated that the 6500 m² building, which was designed as the Central Classroom Building in the first stage, was included in the 2024 investment program by the Presidential Strategy Presidency, and the budget was allocated, the architectural project for the classroom building included in the investment program was completed and the pre-tender process reached the final stage and the tender process for the central classroom building started.
Our Rector thanked the officials of the Presidency Strategy Presidency, who did not spare their contributions to the acceptance and realization of the Education and Culture Campus Project, which has the value of a vision project for our city and our University, and the relevant persons and institutions, especially our deputies Halil Uluay and Fatma Serap Ekmekci, who supported at every stage. Stated that he is very happy to see that this project, which will eliminate an important deficiency of Kastamonu and add value to our city, is supported and embraced by our public, our Rector stated that this situation is a source of joy and motivation for him. He wished the project to be beneficial and thanked everyone who supported it.
