Kastamonu University was included in the ‘World's Most Influential Scientists’ list published by Stanford University with 8 academicians this year. The scientific studies of the academicians of our university, which attract attention in the national and international arena, carry the success graph higher and higher every year.
This list, prepared by the Netherlands-based Elsevier Publishing, evaluates the names of the top 2 percent of scientists in the world. Criteria such as academic productivity, number of citations, and h-index are taken into account in the evaluation. The list, which includes scientists from different disciplines, reflects the level of scientific impact of many years of research.
While our university entered the list with 2 academicians in 2020, 3 academicians in 2021, 5 academicians in 2022, and 4 academicians in 2023, it increased its success graph by taking place with 8 academicians this year.
In Stanford University's list, Prof. Dr. Şeref Turhan from the Faculty of Science; and Prof. Dr. Fatemeh Mollaamin from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. Prof. Dr. Fatemeh Mollaamin, Prof. Dr. Hakan Şevik, Prof. Dr. Osman Gül, Assoc. Dr. Melike Kaplan Yalçın, Assoc. Dr. Kaan Işınkaralar, Assoc. Dr. Oğuzhan Yavuz Bayraktar from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture; and Assoc. Dr. Hamid Derviş from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal emphasised that the devoted work of our academicians played an important role in making this list. Our Rector stated that the studies will continue with a determination to increase the quality of scientific research and to be more internationally recognized.
Congratulating our academicians for their contribution to our international visibility, our Rector wishes that their success will continue to increase. He also drew attention to the success graph of Kastamonu University and emphasized the importance of our university reaching a stronger position in the world of science. He also thanked Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, President of the Higher Education Council (YÖK) for their support in this process.
