Kastamonu University Ordinary Senate Meeting was held on 12 September 2024 at the Senate Meeting Hall under the chairmanship of our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal. Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Atalan, Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük, and senate members attended the meeting.
At the opening of the meeting, our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal presented the awards to the faculties, colleges, and centers that achieved success in our University, which returned as the first with 38 flags from the ‘2024 Barrier-Free University Awards ceremony, which was organized by the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) to raise public awareness about the access of disabled individuals to spaces, educational opportunities and socio-cultural activities in universities and to disseminate useful practices.
In his speech at the ceremony, our Rector stated that Kastamonu University's outstanding efforts to support the access rights of disabled individuals and to ensure their full participation in university life were crowned by winning 38 flags at the 2024 Barrier-Free University Awards ceremony.
Emphasizing that this success results from dedication and determination to remove obstacles, our Rector said that the efforts of faculties, colleges, and centers to contribute to the education and social lives of disabled individuals are exemplary. He also thanked all academic and administrative staff who contributed and reiterated his determination to ensure that these awards are a source of motivation for our University and to make a joint effort to ensure that disabled individuals take a more active part in university life.
Following the award ceremony, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Küçük made a presentation on quality processes.
In the presentation, the report containing the 3 and 6-month results of the targets and activity plan determined by the units of our University for 2024, including quality processes, was shared.
Prof. Dr. Küçük detailed the current performance status and the steps to achieve the goals. In the presentation, current performance data were shown to the senate members through the academic data system, and their effects on increasing the overall performance of our University and improving the student experience were explained. He also expressed the importance of a coordinated effort across our University to achieve quality goals.
The meeting ended after the agenda items were discussed.
